3 questions about SportsAPI you always wanted to ask
We know well, that providing you with all the information you need before you’ve made a buying decision, will help you make the right choice. At STATSCORE we are open, transparent and fully focused on you, our current or future partner. This is why we make sure that you have the necessary information to make a well informed decision. When it comes to our famous Sports API, there are three frequently asked questions. Our Technical Director, Adam Kotwicki, answers them especially for you.
WHAT IS THE MAIN DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PUSH AND PULL METHODS?
The short answer: These are two methods to get the data that’s from SportsAPI. PULL allows the customer to request the data they need. Once requested, our system will share it with them, but only if the customer has the permission to ask for a certain data. This means that every time data is needed, our client has to connect to our API and send a request (for example to get a league table).
PUSH means that the customer just waits for the data and the system decides what should be sent. In this case, the connection between the client and our system is continuous. Eg. when a client needs live data in real time.

HOW MANY REQUESTS PER MINUTE ARE ALLOWED?
Our system is set to allow 100 requests per minute. This should provide you the opportunity to request all the other information you need besides the live incidents. These information would be taken with the use of the PUSH method.
For special occasions we can consider allowing more than 100 requests per minute. However, the general rule is that placing over 100 requests per minute, results in the blocking of access to the SportsAPI feed for 5 minutes. If requests of over a 100 per-minute continue, then the account might even be temporarily blocked.

WHY DO YOU NEED AN IP ADDRESS?
An IP address is needed for all our partners that want to have access to our PUSH notifications.
This allows us to send this type of data directly to the customer. Our goal is to send the data only to known and whitelisted IP addresses. This rule highly increase security and prevents attacks or attempts to gain unauthorized access to our data.
