Today, we’re sitting down with Wojciech Augustyn, Product Manager at STATSCORE, to talk about the engines driving sports technology: ScoutsFeed and DeepFeed.
Both feeds power sports-focused businesses around the globe, but they solve distinct operational and content challenges.
Let’s dive deeper into how these feeds work, the technology behind them, and how they help sports businesses boost engagement and maximize revenue.
For sports businesses looking at STATSCORE’s portfolio, how do you explain the core philosophy behind ScoutsFeed versus DeepFeed?
It comes down to balancing data latency against its granularity.
ScoutsFeed is built for pure speed, operational reliability, and risk mitigation. It delivers live data with ultra-low latency, covering over 10,000 matches a month across the most popular sports like football, tennis, baseball, volleyball, and basketball. Its primary mission is to deliver the fastest possible sports data that keeps live betting markets open safely, and to power sports media with reliable live data that keeps their users engaged.
DeepFeed, on the other hand, is built for depth and rich narrative. It delivers over 300 play-by-play data points per match across 8 core sports. It is not so much about the speed as about capturing every microscopic detail of the game: shot mechanics, precise ball placement, or information about the impact of defenders.
Can you tell us in more detail about the in-depth metrics collected by DeepFeed?
Absolutely. DeepFeed provides a revolutionary level of depth across eight major sports, including football, basketball, baseball, American football, ice hockey, cricket, volleyball, and handball. Unlike standard feeds that track basic outcomes like goals or bookings, DeepFeed captures hundreds of play-by-play data points per match.
This includes pre-match intelligence such as predicted lineups, injuries, and suspensions, as well as real-time tracking of advanced player performance metrics like interceptions, tackles, offsides, fouls, dribbles, and blocked shots. We also capture precise shot mapping, which details exact shot placement in the goal grid along with the specific body part used, as well as highlight-reel moments such as bicycle kicks, chip shots, and goalkeeper performance metrics (e.g. spectacular/important saves, errors resulting in lost goals).
Needless to say, for each of the sports we cover, different metrics apply. So for example, for basketball these will include detailed data on shots, rebounds, fouls, steals, and so on.
By delivering this level of granular detail in real time, DeepFeed translates complex live action into transparent insights that media platforms and sportsbooks can instantly use for storytelling and betting engagement.
How do these two products complement each other within a client’s ecosystem?
They target different stages of user engagement and business needs of sportsbooks and sports-focused media.
For example, ScoutsFeed powers sportsbook operators with instant score alerts, which is a crucial aspect of settling wagers.
However, DeepFeed takes it even further by supplying automated metrics that journalists can drop directly into live media coverage and storytelling to help them explain how a match unfolded.
Where do you see live sports data heading next for STATSCORE?
We never stop tweaking our tech to save our partners time and effort. Case in point: we’re soon bringing rugby league and rugby union to ScoutsFeed, which gives our coverage a massive bump internationally.
Our products keep evolving in response to how sports business is changing.
Fans need more than basic stats, they demand live, analytical context. They want to know why a game is turning out the way it is. That’s where we see data heading: live performance ratings, xG stats, and advanced player metrics.
Because STATSCORE owns its data pipeline from end to end, we can deliver all of that seamlessly. Digital newsrooms get higher fan engagement and new ad money, without having to hire extra staff to pull it off.
